Why We're Going to Sderot

This is a snippet of a conversation one of our members had with an individual who lives in Tel Aviv. It just goes to show why we are going to Sderot.

Yes, I live in Tel Aviv since June where I'm sure you know, life is refreshingly normal dare I say average? Hope you didn't mind my taking Tarek to task in the middle of patient discussion yesterday, I get annoyed when outsiders insist on picturing life here in caricatures without any thought for the incendiary consequences of their words _ Obama being the latest example.

I'll introduce you to my niece, who lives in Sderot, on your next visit if you like. She is almost 9 now and the youngest of 3 kids. What made her story compelling to me since we met in 2007 is that, apart from being a musical genius, her entire consciousness is shaped by having had to be within 15 seconds of safe shelter at all times since birth. Whatever life there is, is what's "normal" for her and her family; it gets eerie at times -caricature like- especially when you meet them outside their Sderot context.

She's been asking her Dad to move to Tel Aviv or somewhere kids can play outside without worry for some time now without result. Eventually she asked him:" Daddy if I get hurt, then can we move?" to which he replied:"Of course love", for her to answer:"So why wait?"
