Anna Wintour vs. Ruth Gruber
The Semptember Issue can be considered the documentary version of The Devil Wears Prada, a realistic look at Anna Wintour and the machinations that move the Rube Goldberg machine of fashion.
It is not only being lauded by the many synchophants of feed from fashion, but also being critically acclaimed for its stunning cinematography, compliments of Robert Richman, who also did Cinematography for Metallic'as Some Kind of Monster.
But, Wintour is not the only powerful female under Richman's brilliant direction. He is currently in Israel for a film festival promoting Ahead of Time, the story of Ruth Gruber. Ruth was born in Brooklyn (as are all the best Israelis) and became the youngest person to ever receive a PhD. She was journalist, a diplomat and a witness to much of history, including, the landing of the boat Exodus in Haifa and Operation Solomon in Ethiopia.
“I am experiencing that feeling of zest which goes with exploration. I am in the thick of an historic moment. I am in an era in the making…”
- Ruth Gruber
