So, now we are giving out awards for best intentions...
Although only two weeks in office when the nominations were made and although, by their own words, he has achieved nothing close to, smelling like, seemingly, maybe, if you squint your eyes real hard, like Peace, President Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize.
According to the Nobel committee, this is because of two reasons: 1. His deep desire to achieve peace and 2. To encourage him to continue to want to (although not necessarily ever actually) achieve peace.
Along those same lines, I would like to nominate the following two other individuals for coveted prizes:
1. The Chicago Cubs as World Series champions for the past 20 years. A virtual dynasty, the Cubs have really really really (really) hoped and wished and gosh-darn-it wanted to be World Series winners for so long. So, lets just go ahead and give it to them. Yay for Chi-Town.
2. Pamela Anderson as a Saint. Similar to Mother Theresa in so many ways, Pamela Anderson once expressed an interest in becoming a nun. Since then, she has fought against animal cruelty and written in her diary long, extensive lists of bad things she wished didn't exist - like spiders and heartburn. Give that woman a Prize!
